1. Create a MyEdPlan

What is MyEdPlan?

MyEdPlan is an award-winning, online, education planning tool that allows you to:

  • Create and edit an education plan on your own anytime!
  • Plan your courses for future terms.
  • Track your progress toward your goal as you meet major/program/degree requirements.
  • Submit your ed plan for review by a counselor directly from MyEdPlan.
  • Meet the educational planning requirements for enrollment, including priority enrollment.

2. Connect With A Counselor

Drop-in Counseling by Phone

Join the Counseling Department Qless virtual line for drop-in counseling by phone.

a. Once you have signed in:

  1. Look for Santa Monica College Counseling Callback.
  2. We'll send you a text message to alert you when we are ready.
  3. The counselor will call you at the number provided when it's your turn to be seen. Make sure cell phone settings are adjusted to receive a call from an unknown or "no caller ID" number. Otherwise, the call goes to voicemail.
  4. If you are using a phone to sign into Qless, please download the Qless app first (Android or iOS).

Video and Phone Appointments

Counselors are also available for telephone appointments and video appointments (Zoom).

Book an appointment through Corsair Connect.

  1. Click "Book a Counseling Appointment" under SMC Quick Links.
  2. You will receive an email confirmation of your appointment with instructions.
    • Video appointments: A Zoom meeting link is provided.
    • Phone appointments: Counselors will call the current phone number in your Corsair Connect account. Make sure your phone number is accurate in the Corsair Connect profile settings.  Also make sure your phone settings are adjusted​​ to allow "unknown" or "no caller ID" numbers at the time of your appointment. If you cannot be reached, your appointment will be canceled and you must reschedule.

6. Get Your SMC ID Card

SMC New ID Cards

SMC has new ID cards, which are now printed and distributed by BankMobile.

Follow these steps to obtain a physical SMC ID card. Follow these instructions at the link below to upload your photo.

Once the Cashier's Office has received, reviewed, and verified your photo and info, your SMC ID card will be created and sent to the mailing address on file in Corsair Connect within a few business days.

Services and benefits for first-time college students who just recently graduated from high school.

Perks & Benefits

Priority Enrollment & Free Tuition

  • Enroll in your classes early
  • New full-time students (12 units or more per semester) who just graduated from high school anywhere in California are eligible for free enrollment in classes (a value of up to $2,300 based on current fees)

Up to $1,200 Textbook Vouchers

  • SMC Promise students who qualify for the California College Promise Grant (CPG) fee waiver also qualify the textbook voucher from the Santa Monica College Bookstore.
  1. $500 during Fall and Spring semesters
  2. $100 during Winter and Summer session
  • Book vouchers may by used at the SMC Bookstore up until their expiration date.

Free SMC Student ID Card

Once you meet all of the SMC Promise eligibility requirements, you can request to recieve your physical ID card from the Cashier's office remotely. Your ID car will allow you to ride the Big Blue Bus for free, among other perks. Visit the ID Card Cheat Sheet to learn how to request your student ID card.

Student Fees Paid

Under the Promise Program, SMC will pay for your classes, your Associated Student Membership. Student Representation fee, health, and student ID fees! As an SMC Promise student, you do not need to pay your fees when you enroll and you will not be dropped for non-payment. Your fees will be paid to your SMC account so long as you maintain your eligibility AFTER the term has ended.
